What is 'Drinks-All-Round?
Drinks All Round is an inclusively considered bottle cap opener. The product is intended more as an ergonomic tool than a disability aid although its core purpose is to take the pain and risk out of cracking open another.
The Project
The large, shaped head allows easy grip and use with only one hand from opening the drawer to removing the cap. The force is exerted perpenicular to the axis of cap removal giving two major benefits: The wrist is maintained in a neutral position & the user has a firm grip of the bottle by default, which minimises the risk of spillage. The unit is formed from two polypropylene, boss-fit together around a punched steel insert.
The Details
An increasing number people are being diagnosed with various joint and muscle conditions as they age, largely due to the array of poorly design objects encountered in their day to day lives. The DAR project aimed to idenitfy a gap in the market and conceive of a solution to cater to it.
